The first report has emerged regarding the deaths of siblings Azra and Ömer Selim Tülü, who died in a hospital in Mersin after being admitted with complaints of nausea and vomiting. Phosphorus nerve gas, used as an insecticide, was detected in the room where the Tülü siblings were staying.
Azra (8) and her brother Ömer Selim Tülü (5), who died yesterday after falling ill at a relative's residence in Tekmen Neighborhood while on holiday from Karaman, were laid to rest yesterday.
AFAD CONDUCTED SCREENING
As the investigation into the deaths continues, upon the instruction of the Anamur Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority) teams from Mersin conducted air quality and toxic substance screening in the area. As part of the efforts, the residence where the family stayed, its surroundings, and the vehicle they traveled in were examined in detail by AFAD. Expert teams used specialized measurement devices to investigate whether any toxic gas or chemical substance was present in the environment.
CAUSE OF DEATH: GRAIN STORAGE?
During the investigation, it was learned that G.V5P phosphorus nerve gas, at levels hazardous to human health, was detected in the room where the family slept. It is suspected that the poison, referred to as nerve gas and used as an insecticide in agricultural products, originated from a wooden grain storage-type structure in the floor of the room where the family was staying.
AUTOPSY REPORT PENDING
It was reported that AFAD teams continued their work at the quarantined house today, while toxicological and histopathological results from samples taken during the autopsy are awaited.

The treatment of 6.5-month pregnant mother Ebru (33) and father Musa Tülü (38), a police officer at the Karaman Provincial Police Department, continues. Like their children, they were taken to Bozyazı State Hospital with complaints of nausea and vomiting, and then transferred to Mersin City Hospital.
It was learned that the mother is in intensive care, while the father has been admitted to a ward.
