Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar became the first Israeli foreign minister to visit Ecuador in 44 years. During the visit, two agreements were signed in the fields of counter-terrorism, trade, investment, cybersecurity, and technology, and Saar conveyed the message that "Ecuador is a true friend of Israel." The parties agreed to further develop security and economic cooperation.

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa received Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar at the Carondelet Palace in the capital, Quito. Saar made history as the first Israeli Foreign Minister to visit Ecuador in 44 years.

During the meeting, the development of bilateral relations and the strengthening of cooperation in security and trade were discussed.

In a statement on his social media account, Saar thanked Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Roberto Kury, saying, "It was a great pleasure to meet you today in Quito as part of the first visit by an Israeli Foreign Minister to Ecuador in 44 years. Ecuador is a true friend of Israel."

TWO CRITICAL AGREEMENTS SIGNED

Following the meeting between Saar and Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Roberto Kury, two important agreements were signed between the two countries.

The first agreement covers cooperation in the fight against terrorism. Within the framework of the agreement, joint efforts will be carried out in the areas of information sharing, inter-institutional coordination, and capacity building.

The second agreement aims to increase cooperation in trade, investment, cybersecurity, innovation, and technology within the scope of the Expanded Economic Dialogue.

EMPHASIS ON NEW MARKETS AND INVESTMENT

Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Roberto Kury stated that joint efforts in developing new markets, trade, foreign investment, and security were discussed during the talks, adding that this cooperation would increase Ecuador's international visibility.

CONTACTS WITH COLOMBIA AND ARGENTINA ALSO ON THE AGENDA

Israeli Foreign Minister Saar is also expected to meet with Argentine President Javier Milei as part of his visit to Ecuador. Saar will also attend the inauguration ceremony of Colombia's elected President Abelardo de la Espriella on August 7.
