Five people have been arrested by Turkish police investigating deaths caused by illicit alcohol, police said Wednesday.
Another suspect is wanted over the sale of counterfeit alcohol in the Aegean city of Izmir.
The arrests came in a raid on premises where the drink was being sold, police said.
Three men died on Monday and Tuesday after drinking alcohol bought in supermarkets and a greengrocer's shop in Izmir's Konak district. Seven others are in critical conditions in a local hospital.
A quantity of raki - a Turkish spirit - in plastic bottles was also seized during the raid.
Since Oct. 18, almost 100 people have been hospitalized for suspected alcohol poisoning in Istanbul. Health authorities in the province said 26 people had died from illegally brewed alcohol. - İzmir
