In the Bozdoğan district of Aydın, a fire that broke out in an agricultural area spread over a wide area due to the wind, and preparations began for the evacuation of 20 houses as the flames threatened residential areas.
Efforts to control the fire that started around 1:30 PM in the agricultural and grassland area near Yazıkent Neighborhood in Bozdoğan district continue uninterrupted.
BURNING FOR 4 HOURS
Due to the effective wind in the region, the flames spread over a wide area, and teams are responding from both land and air. In the extinguishing efforts that have been ongoing for about 4 hours, ground and air power have been increased; the fire is being fought with 28 water tankers, 12 water trucks, and 3 bulldozers from the ground, and 8 helicopters and 6 aircraft from the air. Efforts to bring the fire under control continue.
THREATENED RESIDENTIAL AREAS
Meanwhile, the flames, spreading rapidly due to dry grass and wind and frequently changing direction, began to threaten residential areas. Evacuation preparations were initiated for 20 houses in the Emenni locality of Yazıkent Neighborhood. Municipal buses were also dispatched to the fire zone by Aydın Metropolitan Municipality for evacuation purposes. The buses are kept on standby in the area to transport citizens to safe zones if needed.
PUBLIC MOBILIZED
The forest fire that started in Yazıkent Neighborhood grew under the influence of strong winds and reached the border of Karaahmetler Neighborhood, while teams are trying to cut off the flames' path with construction machinery to prevent them from spreading to residential areas. Extinguishing efforts in the region continue.
Bozdoğan Municipality also called on the public, asking citizens with water tankers to provide water support to the fire zone.
