Footage has emerged showing CHP Deputy Chairman Berhan Şimşek committing violence against Özlem Şanver, with whom he had lived for about 10 years. Protective measures preventing approach and communication had been imposed on Şimşek following a complaint by Şanver, who had previously applied to the judiciary with a report of assault. The CHP administration has made no statement on the matter.
New footage has emerged regarding the incidents between CHP Deputy Chairman Berhan Şimşek and his life partner of nearly 10 years, Özlem Şanver.
In the footage, Şimşek is seen kicking Şanver in the leg in the garden of a detached house, while Şanver, in pain, shouts, "Let go of me." The images also capture moments where Şimşek then tries to force Şanver inside the house, and Şanver struggles to break free.
ŞANVER HAD PREVIOUSLY APPLIED TO THE JUDICIARY
Özlem Şanver had previously applied to the judiciary, stating that she was subjected to physical and psychological violence by Şimşek.
In her application, Şanver made statements regarding assault, insults, threats, being prevented from leaving the house, and pressure being exerted on her through political influence. A health report confirming Şanver was beaten was also included in the case file.
RESTRAINING ORDER AND COMMUNICATION BAN FROM THE COURT
Following the application to the judiciary, the court issued a precautionary decision against Berhan Şimşek, prohibiting him from approaching and communicating with Şanver.
As the risk of violence was assessed to continue, the duration of the measures was later extended. The request for coercive imprisonment, which came to the agenda within the scope of the application alleging that the precautionary decisions had been violated, was sent back to the first-instance court for re-evaluation.
NO STATEMENT FROM CHP
Despite Şanver's complaint, the health report, and the court's precautionary decisions, no statement reflecting on the public was made by the CHP administration regarding the issue.
With the newly emerged footage, the incident of violence between Berhan Şimşek and Özlem Şanver has once again come to the fore.
