The footage shows the boat sinking into the waters after the rapid evacuation of the passengers, and fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries in the incident.
New footage has emerged showing the evacuation moments of 148 people on a tour boat that sank off the coast of Akvaryum Bay in the Marmaris district of Muğla.
A NARROW ESCAPE FROM DISASTER
The moment passengers were evacuated to another nearby boat was captured on the mobile phone cameras of citizens on another vessel. After the passengers were rapidly evacuated, the boat sank into the water, and fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries in the incident.
GOVERNOR'S OFFICE: THEY WERE SAFELY BROUGHT TO SHORE
Following the incident, an investigation was launched in the area, and the Muğla Governor's Office stated in a press release that the process was being monitored. The statement read: "On Friday, May 29, 2026, a report was received stating that a tour boat carrying a total of 148 people, including 120 adults, 20 children, and 8 crew members, had begun taking on water off the coast of Akvaryum Bay in the Marmaris district. Following the report, with the coordination of teams dispatched to the area, our citizens on the boat were safely evacuated with the support of nearby boats. Inspections confirmed no loss of life, injuries, or health issues. Our evacuated citizens were safely brought to shore. Investigation and necessary procedures regarding the incident are being carried out by the Marmaris District Governorate and our Coast Guard Command."
