"While extinguishing efforts for the forest fire in Aydın's Bozdoğan district approach the 5th hour, an evacuation decision was made for the Yazıkent and Karaahmetler neighborhoods."
Efforts to control the fire, which started around 1:30 PM in an agricultural and grassland area near Yazıkent neighborhood in Bozdoğan district, continue uninterrupted. Due to the strong winds in the region, the flames have spread over a wide area, and operations are approaching the 5th hour.
AIR AND GROUND INTERVENTION
The fire is being tackled from the ground with 28 water tankers, 12 water trucks, and 3 bulldozers, and from the air with 8 helicopters and 6 aircraft. Due to the effective wind, the rapidly spreading and frequently changing direction flames have begun threatening residential areas.
TWO NEIGHBORHOODS BEING EVACUATED
As the fire in Aydın's Bozdoğan district approached residential areas, an evacuation decision was made for Yazıkent and Karaahmetler neighborhoods. Following the decision, it was reported that 46 citizens in 17 households, along with 300 sheep and 48 cattle, will be evacuated from the two neighborhoods. Firefighting and evacuation efforts in the region continue.
