The Ministry of Trade announced that a ban on market supply and a recall decision were imposed for a pencil case determined to be unsafe during inspections of stationery products.
CHEMICALS ABOVE LEGAL LIMITS USED
The Ministry of Trade announced that inspections of stationery products have been intensified before the new school year. In the analyses conducted, harmful chemical substances above legal limits were detected in a pencil case. A ban on market supply and a recall decision were imposed for the unsafe product; it was stated that inspections will continue with determination.
STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY
In a written statement from the Ministry, it was said, "As the new academic year approaches, as the Ministry of Trade, we have intensified our market surveillance and inspections of stationery products to protect the health and safety of our children. In analyses conducted within the scope of our inspections, Short-Chain Chlorinated Paraffins (SCCP) / Alkanes C10-C13 were detected in the relevant pencil case above the limits specified in the legislation. A ban on market supply and a recall decision have been implemented for the product deemed unsafe. We continue our inspections with determination to ensure that all products our children use at school, from the pencil case to the notebook, from the bag to other stationery materials, are safe and compliant with the legislation. Because the health of our children is above any commercial concern."
