A fire that broke out in a car traveling in the Ankara direction of the Bolu Mountain Tunnel on the Anatolian Highway caused panic inside the tunnel. Due to the dense smoke filling the tunnel, the Ankara direction was closed to traffic, and a kilometers-long vehicle queue formed on the highway.

Due to the dense smoke filling the tunnel and the security risk, the Ankara direction of the motorway was completely closed to traffic, creating a kilometers-long vehicle queue.

The incident began when flames rose for an undetermined reason in the vehicle with license plate 37 ACG 522, driven by Habip A., as it was proceeding inside the tunnel. Upon the driver noticing the situation and reporting it, numerous fire brigade, AFAD, gendarmerie, and medical teams were dispatched to the region.

4 PEOPLE AFFECTED BY SMOKE 

Four people who were exposed to the dense smoke that formed inside the tunnel during the fire received initial medical intervention in ambulances kept on standby at the scene.

With the rapid intervention of the teams, the flames were brought under control and extinguished, while smoke evacuation and road cleaning operations were initiated inside the tunnel. In the region where security measures have been raised to the highest level, it is aimed to return transportation to normal after the cooling processes are completed. 

An investigation has been launched into the incident.
