Pressure for fuel price hikes continues. The US's new attacks on Iran have increased diesel and gasoline prices in global markets. Industry sources stated that hikes are expected for diesel and gasoline, saying, 'A diesel hike could come on Friday and a gasoline hike the following day. The amount of the hikes will vary depending on the direction and speed of the movement in global markets.' Additionally, an increase of 1.09 TL for autogas is expected as of midnight tonight; the diesel price per liter has risen to the 82-83 TL range.
Brent crude oil price rose above $95 in international futures markets as attacks between the US and Iran resumed. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil's October futures price also reached $90.77 per barrel.
FUEL PRICES ROSE IN GLOBAL MARKETS
In global markets, the metric ton price of diesel and gasoline also increased. The ton price of diesel rose to $1,450 following the attacks in the Middle East. The rise in oil prices was driven by increased supply concerns in the markets as tensions escalated again between the US and Iran.
INCREASES SEEN IN GASOLINE AND DIESEL
Sector sources, in statements to ANKA News Agency, pointed to the upward movement in both oil and product prices, stating that this development triggered increases in diesel and gasoline. The sources noted that a dual increase in fuel is expected, saying, "An increase in diesel may come on Friday, and in gasoline the next day. The amounts of the increases will vary depending on the direction and speed of the movement in global markets."
"THE RISE IN PRICES WILL CONTINUE"
The sources reminded that, although varying by province, the liter price of diesel has risen to the 82-83 TL range with the latest 3 TL 60 kuruş increase (3 TL special consumption tax and 20% VAT), stating, "With the possible increase expected on Friday, diesel prices will continue their climb." An increase of 1.09 TL in autogas is expected as of midnight tonight (Thursday).
