The escalating US-Iran conflict in the Middle East and uncertainty in the Strait of Hormuz have rattled global markets. Amid a sharp decline in US Treasury yields, spot gold surpassed $4,500 per ounce, while in the domestic market, gram gold climbed to 6,971 lira, breaking a four-month record. Alongside the geopolitical crisis, Brent crude rose above $91, and silver and foreign exchange rates continued their upward trend.
The military tension between the US and Iran and the uncertainty in the Strait of Hormuz continue to shake global markets. With the sharp rise in oil prices and the decline in US Treasury yields, gold prices have refreshed their historic levels, while the gram of gold has approached the 7,000 lira mark.
Escalating hot conflicts in the Middle East and shipping risks in the Strait of Hormuz have stirred energy and commodity markets on a global scale. As conflicts between the US and Iran continue, the price of Brent crude oil has risen to $91.7 per barrel, while investors' search for safe havens has driven gold and silver prices to record levels.
RECORD TREND IN OUNCE AND GRAM GOLD
With the support of the sharp decline in US Treasury yields, the ounce of gold started the day at $4,525. After balancing at $4,497 levels during the day, the strong stance in the ounce of gold pushed the gram of gold to record levels in the domestic market.
Starting the day at 6,971 lira, the gram of gold found buyers at 6,932 lira during the day. In the Grand Bazaar and the free market, the quarter gold rose to 11,183 lira, while the full gold reached 44,664 lira.
SILVER POSITIVELY DIVERGED, OIL EXCEEDED $90
Another precious metal that entered an upward trend was silver. The ounce of silver started the day at $66.91, while the gram of silver is trading at 103.3 lira in the domestic market. On the energy front, the crisis is deepening. Gaining more than 3% on a weekly basis, crude oil exceeded $84 per barrel, while Brent crude, which Turkey references, climbed to $91.7.
