STATEMENT FROM VICE PRESIDENT CEVDET YILMAZ ON PENSION INCREASE FOR RETIREES
As 2027 approaches, the increase to be made to retirement pensions has become one of the most important topics on the economic agenda. Millions of retirees are wondering how much their pensions will be increased in the new year and whether there will be an additional improvement beyond the inflation difference. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, in his statement about the regulation on retirement pensions, stated that the government will take a new step before the end of the year. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had recently pointed to 2027 for the regulation to be made to retirement pensions after the cabinet meeting. Our President Erdoğan had used the expressions, "In the 2027 budget, we are creating financial opportunities that will improve a little more the situation of our retirees, who are the crown of our heads. For this, we hope to implement the necessary legal regulation within the framework of justice and equity, with the discretion of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, by the end of the year."
MINISTER ŞİMŞEK ALSO MADE A STATEMENT ON PENSION INCREASE
In addition, speaking at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Plan and Budget Committee during discussions on his ministry's 2027 budget regarding the pension increase, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek said that the technical work carried out to support the purchasing power of retirees continues. Minister Şimşek had used the following expressions regarding the regulation on retirement pensions: "The technical work we are carrying out to support the purchasing power of our retirees has not yet been completed. The regulation will cover all our retirees. We think it would be right for the increase to be made to vary according to age and the number of premium payment days. We are aware of the economic conditions our retirees are experiencing, and we continue our work to raise their welfare level with determination."
