The Social Security Institution announced that the duration of the "maternity allowance" provided to strengthen the family structure and support working mothers has been extended to 24 weeks for single pregnancies and 26 weeks for multiple pregnancies.
The Social Security Institution (SGK) has extended the duration of the "maternity allowance" given to working mothers.
EXTENDED TO UP TO 26 WEEKS
In a statement made on SGK's official social media account, it was stated that the maternity allowance period has been increased from 16 weeks to 24 weeks for single pregnancies, and from 18 weeks to 26 weeks for multiple pregnancies.
On the other hand, it was noted that mothers do not need to separately apply to healthcare providers or the Institution to extend their reports in order to benefit from this right.
8-WEEK PAYMENT WILL BE MADE AUTOMATICALLY
In the statement, it was expressed that as of May 1, for ongoing reports, the 8-week payment will be made automatically without the need for any application.
Within this scope, it was stated that for mothers who gave birth as of October 16, 2025, and whose report ends before May 1, 2026, an 8-week payment will be made based on the notification made by their employers to the Institution.
