Haberler.com General Editor Av. Bedia Teymur conducted a special interview with Governor Ali Çelik in a historic madrasa in Hakkari as part of "An Anatolian Festival." Governor Çelik described Hakkari as "the city of mountains and tranquility," providing information about the city's natural beauty and social structure.
"THE YOUNG POPULATION RATE IN HAKKARI IS 20.7%"
Stating that Hakkari is one of the provinces with the youngest population in Turkey, Çelik said, "Our total population is 282,000, of which approximately 55-56 thousand are young people aged 15-24. While the national young population rate in Turkey is 14.7%, this rate rises to 20.7% in Hakkari. The elderly population rate is only 4.3%, which is less than half of the national average." Governor Çelik emphasized that this situation adds energy and dynamism to the city.
THE LACK OF ELDERLY POPULATION AND YOUNG WORKFORCE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR INVESTORS
Governor Çelik stated that Hakkari's low elderly population rate and high young workforce potential offer significant advantages for investors. "There is a human resource where the elderly are few and the young are many. This energy is a positive energy," said Çelik, emphasizing that the workforce in the region is both qualified and talented.
Despite Hakkari's challenging geographical conditions, Çelik stated that the incentives provided by the government and the border gates have greatly contributed to the region. "We have three border gates; we are very close to Iran and Iraq. This potential is one of our greatest advantages in terms of both export and import," he said. Çelik noted that the region has serious potential for economic growth along with its young population.
