MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli applauded New Party Chairman Özgür Özel after his speech, in which Özel announced they would vote "yes" to the Framework Law proposal prepared for the "Terror-Free Turkey" process in the Turkish Grand National Assembly General Assembly. Bahçeli's step, one of the main architects of the proposal that forms the legal basis of the process, created a striking consensus tableau in Parliament, while Özel declared their decision in his speech by saying, "We will pave the way for peace so that no more martyrs come."
During the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, a striking political consensus was observed while discussing the Framework Law proposal, prepared within the scope of the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process and accepted after 17.5 hours of work in the Parliamentary Justice Commission. Devlet Bahçeli, Chairman of the MHP and one of the main architects of the proposal that forms the legal basis of the process, applauded the speech of Özgür Özel, Chairman of the New Party, in the General Assembly hall.
'YES' MESSAGE WITH THE MEMORY OF SIRRI SÜREYYA ÖNDER
Özgür Özel, Chairman of the New Party, who took the floor at the podium on the 'Law Proposal on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Cohesion', listed his criticisms regarding the way the process was conducted but emphasized that they place the nation's right to peace above everything else. While explaining why they would say 'yes' to the law, Özel drew attention to an emotional and historical responsibility by referring to a memory with the late Sırrı Süreyya Önder.
Stating that their red lines are clear, Özel used the following statements in his speech:
"Atatürk, the Treaty of Lausanne, the unity of the state, and the indivisible integrity of the country cannot be made subjects of debate. We are the party with the most right to say 'no' to this proposal, but we will not put our own right ahead of the nation's right to peace. I express this by recalling the memory and responsibility that Sırrı Süreyya Önder carried for peace at that time; we will pave the way for peace so that no more martyrs come. My executive colleagues and I will say 'yes' to this law with historical consistency and responsibility."

As Özgür Özel finished his speech and walked towards his seat, applause rose in the hall. Devlet Bahçeli, leader of the MHP, who described the process as a state project and was one of the first signatories of the proposal, was among those applauding Özel.

MHP Chairman Bahçeli also applauded the speech of DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, who gave the message 'The homeland is common, the future is common' during the General Assembly sessions, contributing to the remarkable atmosphere of the session.
