Hakan Çakır's killers escaped from the hospital while in custody.

A new detail has emerged regarding the murder of Hakan Çakır, who was killed by individuals who verbally harassed his sister and mother in Ankara. It has been learned that the 14 and 17-year-old suspects, who were detained in connection with the murder, escaped from the hospital where they were taken for a check-up. One of the brothers, who was quickly apprehended, stated that he ran away out of fear, while the other said he surrendered after escaping and going home.

Hakan Çakır (23), who operated a raw meatball shop in the Keçiören district of Ankara, was stabbed to death on August 10 during a fight with individuals who verbally harassed his sister and mother. Çakır's brother Hakkı Can Çakır (27) and father Şahin Çakır (53) were also injured by stabbing. In connection with the murder, Cemal Z. (45) and his sons Taha Yahya Z. (14), Baddal Samet Z. (17), and Ahmet Emir Z. (19) were arrested, while Umut K. was released under judicial control.

THE SUSPECTS ESCAPED FROM THE HOSPITAL WHILE IN CUSTODY

After the incident, it was revealed that murder suspects Taha Yahya Z. and Baddal Samet Z., who were taken into custody by the Child Branch Directorate teams, escaped from the hospital where they were taken for control. Baddal Samet Z., who was caught shortly after, stated in his testimony that he was scared at the police station and therefore escaped from the hospital, saying that he was sitting somewhere and later the police came and took him.

"WE FOUND NAIL-STUDDED STICKS ON THE GROUND, WE DIDN'T SEE THEY HAD NAILS"

Baddal Samet Z. said, "I didn't have blood-stained clothes on me. Besides, the clothes we were wearing were taken by the police. A blood sample was also taken from me for DNA analysis. We found nail-studded sticks on the ground. We didn't see that they had nails. Neither my father Cemal nor Ahmet Emir had a gun or a knife. I didn't see how the other side was stabbed."

"I RAN AWAY WHEN MY BROTHER RAN AWAY"

Taha Yahya Z. stated, "I was sitting at home with my brother Baddal Samet. My brother Ahmet Emir called Samet on the phone and said, 'Run, they are going to kill me.' When my brother went outside, I went out too. We didn't have any weapons with us, but I saw a nail-studded stick on the way and picked it up. My brother Samet also took a nail-studded stick. When I was running down, I already had a stick in my hand, but I still went into the burger shop to protect my family and took a black-handled bread knife from inside. By the time we arrived at the scene, the incident was already over. When I saw my father injured at the scene, I threw the knife away. I didn't use the knife in the incident. I put my father in the car. We were going home as a family; we were going to call an ambulance; at that moment, the police came to the house. The police took my father to the hospital. When I got home, Umut was at our house. I did not make any statement to Umut regarding my actions. They told me at the police station, 'You will be arrested.' When my brother escaped from the hospital, I ran away with him. We did not resist the police while doing this. When I ran away, I went home, I didn't know what to do; later we called the police and they picked me up from my aunt's house," he said.

"ALTHOUGH THE CASE IS BEING HANDLED THROUGH 5-6 PEOPLE, THERE ARE MORE SUSPECTS"

Umut Yıldırım, the lawyer of the Çakır family, stated, "After the incident, 4 suspects were arrested, and one was released. Most of the suspects actually denied the accusations. However, the person named Umut K., who is on the side of the suspects and was released, confessed everything in his statement, including how the incident happened, what was said afterward, and all of it. After the incident, all the suspects gathered in the same house. The suspect named Umut K., who is outside the family, stated who stabbed, who hit with a stick, and who did what, and he said he heard all of this, and all of it was included in his statement. Again, all the other suspects were asked about this Umut K.'s statement; 'Did you talk like this, did you say such words?' The footage of the incident also came. The footage actually overlaps with Umut's statement. The footage shows that the suspect named Taha, who came with a stick, dropped the stick and took a knife, and returned to the scene with the knife. There are also some third parties who are missing in some of the footage. So, although the case is currently being handled through 5 or 6 people, there are more suspects. Their identification is currently being attempted. After the incident, some of the suspects were taken to the Child Branch because they were under 18, while some were taken to the homicide branch, and the procedures began. When those taken to the Child Branch were taken to the hospital, they escaped from the hospital. The suspects named Baddal and Taha escaped from the police while they were in the hospital. The police then caught them again. Actually, there is both an activity to conceal the crime after a crime has been committed and an attempt to escape from the hands of law enforcement. They are actually trying to evade this crime in some way," he expressed.

"THE MAXIMUM PUNISHMENT THE TWO BROTHERS CAN RECEIVE IS 18 AND 12 YEARS"

Yıldırım stated that the weapons used in the incident were not seized immediately after the incident, but the suspects' clothes were taken, noting, "Some of these clothes have blood stains. Blood samples were also taken from the suspects, and these were sent for examination. Similarly, the suspects' phones were seized. Permission was obtained from the Peace Criminal Court for the examination of these phones. Currently, third parties are being sought. Although there are currently 2 camera footage in the file, there are different cameras that see the scene. We requested that these cameras be requested and examined. We are currently waiting for the arrival of this camera footage. Samet and Taha actually state in their statements that they came to the scene with sticks. Again, Taha says he left the stick and went to get a knife from the workplace. The only thing he didn't say is that he didn't engage in such an act. Taha and Samet do not accept the accusation, but ultimately there is a deceased Hakan and injured family members. All of these injuries were caused by knife and stick wounds, as well as machete wounds.

Therefore, the prosecution does not currently give any credence to this statement. All of these individuals will be tried for intentional murder, but the juvenile involved is 17 years old and was 14 years old at the time, so a reduction in the sentence will be applied. The maximum sentence they can receive is 18 years for one and 12 years for the other. Of course, there may also be different reductions applicable. Therefore, unfortunately, no life imprisonment will be imposed," he said.
