Ankara Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation has been launched against social media influencer Fatma Soydaş, whose posts on TikTok and Instagram were deemed to constitute the crime of "publicly denigrating the religious values adopted by a segment of the population," a detention order has been issued for the suspect, and access to the accounts has been blocked.
DETENTION ORDER ISSUED
In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was reported that an investigation was initiated as the posts made from TikTok and Instagram accounts under the username "fffatmaase_" were assessed to constitute the crime of 'publicly denigrating the religious values adopted by a segment of the population' regulated under Article 216/3 of the Turkish Penal Code. The statement noted that as a result of ongoing investigations, the suspect was determined to be in Istanbul, and an order was issued for her detention.
ACCESS BLOCK TO SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS
It was stated that regarding the posts considered to constitute a crime, the Ankara 5th Criminal Court of Peace decided to block access to the social media accounts with its decision dated July 21, 2026, and numbered 2026/8361 D.İş. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office statement indicated that the investigation procedures are being conducted meticulously.

A strong reaction to Soydaş came from Presidential Chief Advisor Oktay Saral. In his statement on his social media account, Saral said: "The detention order and the access block imposed on social media accounts are accurate and appropriate. Perverse minds trying to market insults to our faith through cheap and disgusting content should know that Turkey is not a country where enemies of religion can run wild."
