Hikmat Hajiyev, Advisor to the President of Azerbaijan, reacted sharply to attempts targeting Turkey-Azerbaijan relations, stating, 'I call those who try to undermine Turkish-Azerbaijani relations traitors.' Hajiyev also said that if the article in Armenia's constitution containing territorial claims against Azerbaijan is removed, there will be no obstacle to a peace agreement, and the brotherhood between the two countries will further strengthen.
Hikmat Hajiyev, Advisor to the President of Azerbaijan, made assessments to Anadolu Agency within the scope of the program titled "The Geography of Peace, Karabakh: Reconstruction, Stability and Regional Cooperation in the South Caucasus," organized in cooperation with the Turkey Azerbaijan Friendship Cooperation and Solidarity Foundation (TADIV) and the Intercultural Network Association.
Reminding that approximately one year has passed since the peace agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington, Hajiyev stated that this process demonstrates Azerbaijan's commitment to peace.
Noting that they are closely following the new constitution preparation process carried out after the elections in Armenia, Hajiyev expressed that they expect the article containing territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the constitution to be removed.
Hajiyev said, "There is an issue of territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Armenian constitution. We expect that it will not be present, that is, it will be removed, in the new constitution. There are also such intentions on the Armenian side."
"WE SEE NO OBSTACLE FOR THE SIGNING OF THE PEACE AGREEMENT"
Hajiyev stated that if the new constitution is adopted by referendum in Armenia and the aforementioned article is removed from the text, there will be no obstacle to the final signing of the peace agreement.
Expressing that there is a de facto peaceful environment in the region, Hajiyev stated that efforts to ensure lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia are ongoing.
9 CITIES AND 300 VILLAGES ARE BEING REBUILT IN KARABAKH
Hajiyev, who also provided information on the reconstruction efforts in Karabakh, said that a comprehensive construction process continues in the region.
Saying, "Today, we are building 9 cities and 300 villages from scratch in Karabakh. That is, new cities, new towns, and new villages are being established," Hajiyev reported that thousands of kilometers of roads, bridges, and tunnels have been completed in a short time.
Stating that approximately 60 thousand people have begun to live, work, and receive education in Karabakh, Hajiyev said the mine threat still persists. Noting that mine clearance activities continue, Hajiyev expressed that citizens are being gradually settled safely in cities and towns.
Hajiyev used the expressions, "We are in the process of creating a paradise in Karabakh, which is a natural paradise."
MESSAGE FOR THE ZANGEZUR CORRIDOR: "IT CAN START THIS YEAR"
Hajiyev, who also made assessments regarding the Zangezur Corridor, said the statements from Armenia and the USA indicate that feasibility studies are in the final stage.
Saying, "The signals given by Armenia and the USA show that feasibility studies are now in the final stage and construction works will begin this year," Hajiyev stated that on the Azerbaijani side, the double-lane highway extending from Baku to Zangilan is in its final stage, and the railway line is about to be completed.
Expressing that the railway infrastructure in Nakhchivan is being rebuilt, Hajiyev reminded that Turkey is also constructing the Kars-Iğdır railway line.
Stating that with the completion of these projects, the railway line connecting Nakhchivan to Turkey will be realized, Hajiyev said, "We expect Armenia and the USA to also start the construction process of the project they call the Zangezur Corridor, that is, the Trump Corridor."
EMPHASIS ON TURKIYE-AZERBAIJAN RELATIONS
Hajiyev, who also gave a message to the Turkish people, stated that the brotherhood between Turkey and Azerbaijan is a historical heritage and that the relations between the two countries set an example for the world.
Using the expressions, "Turkey and Azerbaijan are an example of brotherhood for the world. The relations between our countries, this friendship, this brotherhood, are a gift and a memory inherited from our ancestors and grandfathers," Hajiyev argued that circles trying to harm the relations between the two countries will not succeed.
Hajiyev said, "The only thing they do is dirty propaganda. I call those who try to undermine Turkish-Azerbaijani relations traitors. Whether they are in Turkey or Azerbaijan, those who display such an intention can never achieve their goals. Because no one can get between flesh and nail."
Stating that the brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Turkey will be further strengthened with the will of the peoples and the leadership of the presidents of the two countries, Hajiyev expressed that the strategic cooperation between the two countries will continue in the future.
