The wheat harvest has begun at the Ceylanpınar Agricultural Enterprise Directorate, affiliated with the General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM), Turkey's largest agricultural enterprise. Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak sat in the driver's seat of a combine harvester to perform the first harvest.

GOVERNOR ŞILDAK TOOK THE WHEEL

Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak, who attended the harvest program, received information about the operations from officials. Later, Şıldak took the seat of the combine harvester, started the machine's blades, and initiated the season's first wheat harvest.

Stating that wheat harvest will be carried out on a total area of 56,400 hectares this year, Governor Şıldak emphasized the great importance of TİGEM Ceylanpınar for Turkish agriculture.

Şıldak said, "TİGEM Ceylanpınar is an inseparable part, and as of the current season, grain harvest is being conducted here. Barley harvest has been completed. We also participated in part of the wheat harvest today, which was planted on an area of 56,400 hectares in the enterprise. This is truly a source of pride for our country. We have a facility here where many workers are employed, exemplary agricultural practices are carried out, and successful seed breeding studies are conducted."

20 Percent Increase Expected in Yield

Governor Şıldak, stating that this year's effective rainfall has positively impacted production, said that a yield increase of approximately 20 percent is expected compared to previous years.

Şıldak spoke, saying, "Here, we both received information about the operations and gathered with the employees to wish for a plentiful, bountiful, and auspicious season. Wheat and barley planting in Şanlıurfa has been increasing in recent years. Production can be done with irrigated and dry farming methods. Due to this season's rainfall, we expect a more bountiful harvest with higher yield and productivity. We anticipate at least 20 percent more product compared to previous years. Currently, our farmers across the province are intensively continuing their harvest efforts. We wish all our producers a bountiful harvest period."

In addition to Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak, Ceylanpınar District Governor Çağatay Çakal, TİGEM officials, institution directors, military personnel, and security teams also attended the program.
