In Adana's Seyhan district, 115 kilograms of silver were stolen from the shop of a silver wholesaler. Jewelry craftsman Mehmet Ali L. was arrested, and approximately 55 kilograms of the silver was found. When shop owner İshak Ş. realized that the silver being offered for sale at the jeweler's belonged to him, he bought 550 grams of it for 45,000 lira to avoid attracting attention and reported it to the police. Lütfi B., who was trying to sell the silver, was also arrested.

It has emerged that İshak Ş. (56), whose 115 kilograms of silver was stolen from his shop in ADANA, bought 550 grams of that silver from suspect Lütfi B. (48), who wanted to sell it at a jeweler in the city, by paying 45 thousand lira. Following a tip-off, police took Lütfi B. into custody; in his statement, he said, "Two people said they had bargain silver and wanted to sell it. I gave the 30 thousand lira in my pocket and bought it. I had no knowledge of the theft," and Lütfi B. was arrested.

The incident occurred on September 13 at night on Sefa Özler Avenue in the Kuruköprü Neighborhood of Seyhan district. Jewelry craftsman Mehmet Ali L., who hid his face with a helmet, went with materials loaded onto his motorcycle to the business building where silver wholesaler İshak Ş., with whom he had previously done business, was located. Mehmet Ali L., who hid inside for a while, took action for the theft after the business building closed when working hours ended. Mehmet Ali L., who cut the locks of the iron door of İshak Ş.'s shop with an oxygen cylinder, stole a total of 115 kilograms of silver, some of it in ingots, putting it into a suitcase and sack he had brought with him. The moments when the suspect loaded the silver he stole onto his motorcycle and took it away were captured by security cameras.

SUITCASES FOUND IN THE WOODSHED

Upon İshak Ş.'s report after he noticed the theft when he came to open his workplace, teams from the Theft and Pickpocketing Bureau Office of the Public Order Branch Directorate launched an investigation and identified the suspect's home. Teams raiding the address seized the motorcycle, which was determined to have had some parts removed, replaced, and painted. In addition, the suitcase in which suspect Mehmet Ali L. carried the silver was found in the woodshed of his house.

Mehmet Ali L., who claimed during questioning at the police station that he did not commit the theft and had no connection to the incident, was arrested in the court he was brought before. During searches by police at two different addresses, approximately 55 kilograms of the stolen silver was found and delivered to its owner.

HE RECOGNIZED HIS OWN SILVER AT THE JEWELER

Meanwhile, it emerged that İshak Ş. himself had bought 550 grams of his stolen silver from Lütfi B. While the police were continuing the investigation, it was learned that Lütfi B. wanted to sell silver at a jeweler on Çakmak Avenue on September 26, and the shop owner called İshak Ş., saying, "A customer who wants to sell silver has come. If you need it, come and buy it," and invited him over. İshak Ş., who went to the shop, realized while examining the silver that it was the products stolen from him. Not mentioning the theft so as not to attract attention, İshak Ş. paid the suspect 45 thousand lira and bought the products. Those moments were captured by security cameras.

THE SELLER WAS ALSO ARRESTED

After İshak Ş. left the shop and reported the situation, police teams took Lütfi B., whose identity was determined, into custody. Lütfi B., taken to the police station, said in his statement, "While I was drinking on an empty lot, two people I did not know came up to me and said they had bargain silver and wanted to sell it. I gave the 30 thousand lira in my pocket and bought it. I had no knowledge of the theft." Lütfi B., who was referred to the courthouse after procedures, was also arrested in the court he was brought before.

It was reported that police teams are continuing their investigation to find the remaining silver.
