The report prepared by the Forensic Medicine Institute regarding the bus accident in Antalya's Döşemealtı district, which resulted in 10 fatalities and 28 injuries, has been completed. The report indicated that the bus was traveling at 95 kilometers per hour at the time of the accident in an area with a speed limit of 50 kilometers, and concluded that the deceased driver was "primarily at fault".

In the accident that occurred on February 1st at around 10:25, 10 people died and 28 were injured when a passenger bus crashed into barriers and overturned. In the investigation initiated by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Investigation Bureau, the report prepared by the Traffic Expertise Department of the Antalya Group Presidency of the Forensic Medicine Institute examined the accident formation, road and weather conditions, tachograph data, accident scene report, expert reports, flash memory, CDs, and statements in the file.

THE REPORT DESCRIBED THE ACCIDENT FORMATION

The report stated that the passenger bus with license plate 26 ABG 022, driven by the deceased driver İzzet Karağaç, was traveling from Aksu direction towards Döşemealtı. When it reached the junction of the Northern Ring Road Antalya-Burdur highway, while attempting to merge from the side road, it veered left, crashed into barriers and dragged along, then left the road and overturned onto its left side on the dirt ground outside the road.

"ROAD WET, WEATHER FOGGY"

The report noted that the road was 7 meters wide, one-way, asphalt, wet and damp, and the weather at the time of the accident was foggy/smoky, daytime, and the area was a residential zone. The accident scene report indicated that the maximum speed limit at the location was 50 km/h, the width of the emergency lane and shoulder was 2 meters, and the road had a dangerous curve on the horizontal alignment. The report also stated that there was a geographic information sign 15 meters from the accident site, a dangerous right curve sign 30 meters away, and a maximum speed sign 60 meters away.

"SPEED AT ACCIDENT TIME 95 KM/H"

The report stated that a 30-meter-long brake mark was found from the passenger bus with license plate 26 ABG 022, and the tachograph speed graph taken after the accident determined the driver's speed at the time of the accident to be 95 km/h. It was also noted in the report that there was 44 meters of damaged barrier at the scene. The report cited that the Gendarmerie General Command's In-depth Traffic Accident Investigation and Reconstruction report indicated that the driver violated traffic rules by not adjusting his speed according to road and weather conditions.

"PRIMARILY AT FAULT"

Regarding the driver's fault status, the report stated: "The deceased driver İzzet Karağaç, while driving the passenger bus under his control, failed to pay due attention to the road, consider the curvy road, wet ground, and foggy weather, and did not take care to maintain a vigilant speed considering visibility. Instead, he violated these precautions by attempting to turn the curve at a speed far exceeding local conditions, carelessly and imprudently, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, veer left, crash into barriers, and be dragged off the road. In this incident, his violation of the duty of care and attention renders him primarily at fault."
