Teams from the Public Order Branch Directorate's Wanted Persons Bureau Office of the Istanbul Police Department carried out a remarkable operation as part of their efforts targeting fugitives with finalized prison sentences.
HAD BEEN WANTED SINCE 2018
It was determined that Tuğrul Başar, the target of the teams, had a finalized prison sentence for the crime of "theft by assuming an official title without authorization," committed in Samsun in 2010, and had been sought by police since February 28, 2018.
HIDDEN FOR YEARS WITH HIS SISTER'S IDENTITY
As a result of intelligence efforts by the Wanted Persons Bureau Office teams, the suspect's trace was found in Kadıköy. During the police's physical surveillance, it was revealed that Başar constantly walked around dressed as a woman to avoid capture and evade inspections. The suspect, detained in a successful operation the previous day, was found to be carrying his sister's ID.
In addition to the existing prison sentence, legal proceedings were initiated against Tuğrul Başar, who managed to disappear for years by disguising himself as a woman and using his sister's identity, on charges of 'using another person's identity information.' The suspect was handed over to the Kadıköy Pier Police Station to complete the procedures.
