A family that set out from Istanbul to Nevşehir for the holiday break with a vehicle they purchased just before the holiday experienced the shock of their lives at the entrance to Nevşehir. After it was determined that the license plate attached to the vehicle had no registration record, the driver was fined 140,000 Turkish liras, the vehicle was impounded for 30 days, and the driver's license was confiscated for 30 days.
The vehicle, purchased from Istanbul, was being used by Ahmet G. to spend the holiday with his family in Nevşehir. It was caught by the License Plate Recognition System (PTS) cameras at the Nevşehir entrance. The system alerted that the license plate mounted on the vehicle had no registration record.
LICENSE PLATE REGISTRATION RECORD FOUND MISSING
Upon the alert, police stopped the vehicle at the Terminal Intersection. During the inspection, it was determined that the last three digits of the license plate recorded in the vehicle's registration document differed from those on the vehicle. Driver Ahmet G. stated that he bought the vehicle just before the holiday and planned to complete the official sale procedures after the holiday, adding that he was unaware of the discrepancy in the license plates.
140 THOUSAND TL FINE AND 30-DAY TRAFFIC BAN
As a result of the procedures carried out by the police, the vehicle was banned from traffic for 30 days, and the driver's license was confiscated for 30 days. Additionally, the driver was fined a total of 140 thousand liras in administrative penalties. Driver Ahmet G. was taken to the Nevşehir Police Department for a statement. An investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
