In the Turgutlu district of Manisa, Ömer Coşkun shot and killed his estranged wife Sariye Nur Coşkun, his father-in-law Musa Girgin, his mother-in-law Fatma Girgin, and his 13-year-old brother-in-law Yusuf Can Girgin with a shotgun. The family members who lost their lives in this massacre were buried after the funeral ceremony.
In the Turgutlu district of Manisa, Ömer Coşkun (26) shot and killed his estranged wife Sariye Nur Coşkun (22), father-in-law Musa Girgin (51), mother-in-law Fatma Girgin (43), and brother-in-law Yusuf Can Girgin (13) with a shotgun, hitting them in the head. Following the incident, the suspect Ömer Coşkun and his father S.C. (60) were detained by the gendarmerie. Meanwhile, the family members who lost their lives in the massacre were buried after the funeral ceremony.
The incident occurred around 04:00 in the rural Kabaçınar neighborhood of Turgutlu. Ömer Coşkun went to the house of his estranged wife Sariye Nur Coşkun's family. There, Coşkun shot his 2-year wife Sariye Nur Coşkun, father-in-law Musa Girgin, mother-in-law Fatma Girgin, and brother-in-law Yusuf Can Girgin in the head with the shotgun he had with him. Upon the notification of the surrounding people, gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. In the examination conducted by the medical teams, it was determined that 4 people lying on the ground in a pool of blood had lost their lives.
HE WAS DETAINED ALONG WITH HIS FATHER
After the incident, the gendarmerie caught Ömer Coşkun, who had fled, at his father's house in Yunusdere neighborhood. Coşkun's father S.C. was also detained on the charge of 'hiding evidence of a crime'. Kabaçınar Neighborhood Muhtar Bekir Sıtkı Alp stated, "I woke up when the gendarmerie commanders called at night and learned about the incident. When we arrived, we saw that 4 people had died in the house. We went to the suspect's father's house. The suspect was found sleeping in the house. Our gendarmerie station commanders took the suspect into custody. Now we will also start the burial procedures for the corpses," he said.
ALLEGATION OF 'REQUESTING THE JEWELRY GIVEN AT THE WEDDING'
Muhtar Alp stated that the couple, who had been married for 2 years, had been going through a divorce process for 5 months, saying, "The first hearing of the case was held. They had another hearing on April 2. In this hearing, the family was expecting the divorce to take place. It is said that Ömer Coşkun threatened his wife several times over the phone during this process. On the night of the incident, he came to his wife's father's house. He is thought to have been under the influence of alcohol. Initially, they went to court for an amicable divorce. However, Ömer later demanded 370,000 TL for the jewelry given at the wedding and wedding expenses. When such a demand was made, the girl's side also filed a lawsuit against them. Events developed like this, and we woke up to the sad news at night," he said.
THEY GOT MARRIED BY ELoping
Ali Alp (52), their neighbor who lives 20 meters away from the Girgin family, said, "The deceased were good people. They eloped and got married 2 years ago. Then there were disagreements between them. They would reconcile occasionally. They hadn't been in contact for the last 5-6 months. The girl's side was occasionally complaining. They were anxious. We didn't hear any gunshots. We woke up to the sound of the gendarmerie's siren. We were very upset when we learned about the incident. This is the first time I have encountered something like this in my life. We ask the elders. They have not experienced anything like this either. It is a very painful thing. May God not let anyone experience it," he said.
A 1-MONTH PROTECTION MEASURE WAS IMPLEMENTED
Additionally, it was reported that a 1-month protection measure was implemented for Ömer Coşkun against his estranged wife between January 14 and February 14. It was also reported that there was an ongoing prosecution against Coşkun for 'insulting' his wife at the Turgutlu 2nd Criminal Court.
HE WAS SENT TO THE COURT
Furthermore, Ömer Coşkun, along with his father S.C., who is alleged to have hidden evidence of the crime, and his neighborhood friend C.S., who is alleged to have aided and abetted, were sent to the courthouse under heavy security measures after their procedures at the gendarmerie.
THEY WERE BURIED
Sariye Nur Coşkun (22), Musa Girgin (51), Fatma Girgin (43), and Yusuf Can Girgin (13), who were killed by Ömer Coşkun (26), were given a funeral ceremony in front of Kabaçınar Mosque in Turgutlu. The funeral was attended by the relatives of the deceased, as well as Turgutlu District Governor Selami Kapankaya and citizens. After the prayer led by District Mufti Ömer Çoban at the afternoon prayer time, the bodies were buried in Kabaçınar Cemetery.
