Sarıkurt said, "Unfortunately, 2 of our police officers were martyred. May their souls rest in heaven. A court order was also issued regarding a citizen living in Istanbul with a psychological disorder to receive treatment. Upon notification from his family, law enforcement was tracking him for treatment. Teams received information that he was in the arcade. Our police colleagues checked. Initially they couldn't find him, then according to the information we received, when they came out with citizens, the suspect attacked one of the police officers with a sharp object and martyred him. Then he also martyred our other colleague. There was an assessment regarding a bomb near the hospital, but our law enforcement destroyed it as a precaution; however, there is no dangerous situation. Following this sad incident, we are canceling all musical programs we were planning for May 19."

CHP Tekirdağ Deputy İlhami Özcan Aygun said, "A very sad incident; 2 of our police officers were martyred. One of our officers was engaged, the other was married and a father of one child. Our hearts ache." Tekirdağ Metropolitan Mayor Candan Yüceer also used expressions saying, "A truly sad incident. I ask for God's mercy for our two heroic martyrs. I wish patience for their families. May God not bring harm to our soldiers and police."
