AN EMERGENCY LANDING WAS MADE
The pilot had to land the plane at an airport in Luanda, Angola. It was reported that all players and officials were quickly evacuated from the plane by the authorities, and a new flight plan for the team would be arranged.
STATEMENT FROM THE NIGERIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION
The Nigerian Football Federation issued a statement regarding the incident, saying, "A crack occurred in the windshield after the plane took off. The pilot successfully managed to land the plane back at the airport in Luanda. The relevant authorities of the airlines and the Nigerian Federal Government, including the Minister of Transportation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Chief of Staff to the President, are quickly working to obtain the necessary flight and landing permits for another plane departing from Lagos to go to Luanda and pick up the team to take them to Uyo."
