The demolition work of the minaret of the Oğuzlu Yayla Mosque in Trabzon's Çaykara district, which was damaged in a storm, was postponed until the chicks fledged after retired imam Mustafa Karaman noticed pigeon eggs in the nest.
The dismantling work of the minaret of the Oğuzlu Yayla Mosque in Trabzon's Çaykara district, which was damaged in a winter storm, was postponed thanks to Imam Mustafa Karaman's heartwarming decision. Karaman, who noticed the pigeons nesting in the minaret with their eggs, halted the work until the chicks hatch and fly away.
HALF OF IT WAS DESTROYED IN THE STORM
It was planned to dismantle and rebuild the remaining part of the minaret at the Oğuzlu Yayla Mosque in Trabzon's Çaykara district, which was half destroyed in a severe storm last winter.
HEARTWARMING MOVE FROM RETIRED IMAM
Retired Imam Mustafa Karaman, who noticed that pigeons had made a nest with eggs on the upper part of the minaret before the work began, decided to postpone the dismantling process.
IT WILL NOT BE DEMOLISHED UNTIL THE PIGEONS FLY
Karaman, who did not want to damage the nest found in the part of the minaret built from an iron profile about 20 years ago and planned to be scrapped, stated that the work would be delayed until the chicks hatch and fly away.
Retired Imam Karaman, stating that he serves as an imam for 4 months in the summer on the plateau, said, "It collapsed due to snow in winter. It was to be scrapped, and friends came and dismantled it. Unfortunately, they couldn't take the remaining part. Pigeons had built a nest inside with chicks. To prevent harm to them, the minaret's demolition was postponed until they grow and fly. The minaret was built 20 years ago."
