After the warnings from the Meteorology, heavy rainfall has been effective in a large part of the country, especially in the Aegean Region. Roads turned into lakes, particularly in İzmir and Muğla. While homes and workplaces were flooded, traffic came to a standstill, and citizens were affected.

Due to the rainfall that started in the late hours in İzmir and increased in intensity, vehicles struggled to move on the roads. Some citizens caught unprepared by the rain tried to seek shelter at bus stops and the entrances of workplaces.

The parking lots of two apartment buildings in the Şemikler neighborhood of the Karşıyaka district were flooded. The water level in the basement of one of the buildings rose significantly.

Residents of the building moved their vehicles out of the parking lots to safer areas.

Azad Kurt, who resides in the apartment, claimed that they reported the situation to the authorities, but no one has come.

EVERYWHERE IS SEWAGE WATER

Kurt, stating that they were victims due to the basement being flooded, said, "There is about 2 meters of water and sewage water. The filth and the smell are one thing, the material damage is another. We have personal belongings inside. We are calling the authorities, and they say 'we are directing a team,' but no one has come. We do not want to cast doubt on the authorities, but living under these conditions is difficult. It is still raining outside. It could rise even more."

Kurt noted that their belongings were also submerged, saying, "All the belongings have floated up. Bottles are floating on the roads. This is Karşıyaka, Şemikler. This is the heart of İzmir. These are the places they call 'the most upscale.' You can see the state of these places. It is really bad. There is a bicycle inside. The bicycle is not visible right now. This is not the first time; it happens every time it rains."

72 KILOGRAMS OF RAINFALL PER SQUARE METER

In the Köyceğiz district of Muğla, streams overflowed due to the downpour. As a result of the flooding, many houses were inundated, and agricultural lands and greenhouses were submerged. Damage occurred in the cultivated fields due to the flood. In a statement made by the Köyceğiz District Governorship, it was noted that 72 kilograms of rainfall fell per square meter, and it was expressed that all teams were on the ground alongside the citizens.
