Iran's Revolutionary Guards announced that they struck the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan with 12 ballistic missiles in retaliation for US attacks on targets in Iran. The Tehran administration stated that points where US F-35, F-15, and F-16 fighter jets are deployed were targeted, delivering the message, "Our operations will continue as long as enemy aggression persists." With the mutual strikes, the tension in the Middle East has escalated to a new phase.
The military tension between the US and Iran has escalated to a new level. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it has carried out a large-scale retaliatory operation targeting the American military presence in the region following the recent US attacks on Iranian territory.
12 BALLISTIC MISSILES LAUNCHED
In a statement released by the IRGC, it was reported that the Al-Azraq Air Base in eastern Jordan was struck with 12 ballistic missiles. Iran claimed that the attack targeted areas where US F-35, F-15, and F-16 fighter jets are stationed.
The Tehran administration stated that the operation was a direct response to US attacks on military and civilian points within Iran.
"US STRUCK MULTIPLE LOCATIONS IN IRAN"
In the IRGC statement, it was alleged that the US targeted areas around Karaj, Nazarabad, and Pishva, and that an industrial complex and some civilian areas were also affected by the attacks.
The statement said, "These operations are the response to aggression against Iranian territory."
"OPERATIONS WILL CONTINUE IF ATTACKS PERSIST"
Iran also signaled new attacks against the US. In the statement made by the IRGC, it was said, "Our operations will continue as long as enemy aggression persists."
This statement was interpreted as Iran not only carrying out a one-time retaliation but also keeping new attack options on the table.
US BASES IN THE REGION ON ALERT
Following the recent developments, it is reported that the security level has been raised at US bases in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Iran had previously announced that it had struck American targets in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, with some attacks reportedly intercepted by air defense systems.
TENSION SPREADS FROM HORMUZ TO JORDAN
The mutual attacks that began after the latest US operations against Iran have evolved from a crisis around the Strait of Hormuz into a wider conflict zone encompassing American bases in the region. Experts warn that if the parties continue their mutual moves, a larger military escalation could occur in the Middle East.
