(ISPARTA) – A rescue operation has been launched for 2 Polish nationals stranded in Yazılı Canyon in the Sütçüler district of Isparta.
After no news could be received from two Polish citizens who entered Yazılı Canyon, a search and rescue operation was initiated by Isparta AFAD teams. As a result of the work carried out with a drone, the location of the two people was determined.
THEY SENT A HELP MESSAGE BY PHONE
According to the information obtained, communication was established between the tourists, who asked for help with their mobile phones, and the rescue team in the evening hours. Following a 2-minute phone call at 19:32, the stranded Poles shared their location at 19:36.
To the tourists, who wrote in English, "Please tell us how long we need to wait or what we need to do," the rescue team replied that they were advancing toward the area. The team asked the tourists not to leave their location and to signal or call out when they saw a light.
DIFFICULT RESCUE IN STEEP TERRAIN
After the exchanges, the rescue team reached the 2 stranded people and launched an effort to safely bring the tourists out of their location. It is stated that the rescue work is being carried out with difficulty due to the steep and rugged terrain structure of the canyon.
Isparta AFAD Provincial Director Bilal Öztürk, in his statement to an AA reporter, said that the health condition of the stranded people was good and that their rescue was planned for tonight.
