National volleyball player Gizem Örge said that she was left disabled because of a prank in which a friend of her mother pulled the chair out as she was about to sit. Noting that her mother underwent brain surgery twice after the incident, Örge said, "My mother raised me single-handedly." The national star, who explained that her father also became paralyzed after suffering a seizure, had a heartbreaking story.

Gizem Örge, the star of the Sultans of the Net nicknamed the "Minister of Defense," recounted the difficult period her family went through on the Bambaşka Sohbetler program broadcast on NTV.

Örge stated that her mother experienced serious health problems after a friend pulled the chair out as she was about to sit down, and said that after the incident her mother had to undergo two brain surgeries. The national volleyball player stated that she was only 3 years old during her mother's second surgery.

"MY MOTHER RAISED ME SINGLE-HANDEDLY"

Örge, noting that the incident changed her family's life, emphasized that she does not like similar jokes and said the following:

"A small prank, a small carelessness for my mother... It can cost a person their entire life. That is why my mother had to undergo two brain surgeries, and she had the second one when I was 3 years old; in fact, my mother raised me single-handedly."

HER FATHER ALSO SUFFERED A STROKE

After describing her mother's health issues, the national volleyball player also recounted her father's health problems, reporting that due to an injection given after her father had a seizure, paralysis developed in his right arm and right leg. Örge stated that over time her father began walking without support, but the loss of movement in his hand did not improve, and said that despite all difficulties, her mother and father gave her great support.

"MY DAUGHTER, YOU WILL BE THERE ONE DAY TOO"

Örge recounted that from the first years she started volleyball, her father never left her alone, stating that her father came to the training hall every day and was by her side during away games. The national volleyball player, who described her father as a "team father," stated that she received his support even during periods when she was not selected for the national team. Örge recounted that her father called her and said, "The girls won today, my daughter; you will be there one day too."

"I GREW UP WITH LOVE"

Gizem Örge, stating that her family's financial means were limited but that she never lacked anything in terms of love, emphasized that her mother and father played a big role in her getting to where she is today. The successful volleyball player expressed her gratitude to her family with these words:

"I never got anywhere thanks to my family's means or studied in private schools. I mean, I am not a girl who grew up with such opportunities. But I grew up with love. So, I have no deficiency in my self-confidence, my awareness, or my love."
