Striking details have emerged about the background of the headscarf ban in state schools in Azerbaijan. The country's press reports that the restriction was imposed to prevent the activities of Iran-linked groups seeking to gain influence over young people and teachers.

While the repercussions of restrictions on headscarved students and teachers in educational institutions in Azerbaijan continue, striking claims have been made regarding the background of the ban. Reports in the country's press alleged that the regulation was adopted against pro-Iran groups trying to increase their influence over young people and teachers.

ARE IRANIAN GROUPS THE REASON FOR THE BAN?

According to news and analyses in the Azerbaijani press, the restriction decision is based on the activities of Iran-linked groups trying to establish influence over the country's young population and educational cadres. It is alleged that some headscarved teachers and structures are acting under the direction of these groups.

"THEY ARE OPENLY REBELLING AGAINST THE STATE'S POLICY"

Azerbaijani politician Ogtay Gasimov, who made assessments on the issue, stated that the aforementioned structures are behind the unrest in schools and public opinion. Arguing that the process should be handled from the perspective of security and state authority, Gasimov used the following expressions: "They are openly rebelling against the state's policy. Therefore, this issue should be handled more pragmatically, and at the same time the identity of influence agents should be determined and action should be taken against them."

CONTROVERSIAL BROADCAST FROM STATE TELEVISION

Meanwhile, as reactions to the implementation continued, an image broadcast on Azerbaijani state television further escalated the debates. In the broadcast, where two separate images featuring students with uncovered heads and covered heads were placed side by side, the question "Which school would you study at? - The choice is yours" (Which school would you like to study at? - The choice is yours) was posed.
