Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made evaluations regarding the agenda during a live television broadcast he attended. In part of his speech, Yerlikaya announced data regarding Syrians who returned to their country after the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime. "35,114 SYRIANS RETURNED TO THEIR HOMELAND IN 21 DAYS"Stating that "we stood on the right side of history in Syria," Minister Yerlikaya mentioned that there are 4 million 156 thousand foreigners with legal residence rights in Turkey. Noting that Syrians have started to return since December 8, when the Assad regime was overthrown, Yerlikaya said, "In 21 days, 35,114 Syrians returned to their homeland. Nearly 1,700 are returning daily. Between December 9 and December 29, the average daily return was 1,672. A total of 775,117 Syrians returned voluntarily." "SYRIANS BORN IN TURKEY WERE NOT GRANTED CITIZENSHIP"Yerlikaya reported that the returns are predominantly to Aleppo and also stated that Syrians born in Turkey were not granted citizenship.
