It has been determined that Haluk Levent, the head of the Ahbap Association who was detained as part of an investigation into the association, placed millions of lira in bets on Bayern Munich matches using other individuals' accounts.
New developments are occurring in the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the Ahbap Association. Within the scope of the investigation, the association's president, Haluk Levent, was detained in Bursa by teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Branch on charges of "violating the Associations Law," "laundering assets derived from crime," and "membership in an organization."
MILLIONS OF LIRAS IN BETS PLACED
As the repercussions of the incident continue, new information about Haluk Levent has emerged from ongoing examinations. According to determinations made, it was found that Levent placed bets worth millions of liras on Bayern Munich matches using accounts belonging to other individuals.
CONSISTENT SAME CHOICE MADE
Based on the evidence obtained, it was determined that in these millions-of-liras bets placed on Bayern Munich through other people's accounts, the same choice was consistently made. The investigation processes into the matter are ongoing.
14 MORE INDIVIDUALS DETAINED
Meanwhile, while interrogations of 22 suspects continue at the police station, the prosecutor's office ordered a new operation. In this context, an operation was carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch in the provinces of Istanbul, Izmir, Kocaeli, and Mugla. Fourteen suspects were detained. Search, seizure, and apprehension operations were conducted at the addresses of the suspects and four companies. Digital materials were also confiscated during the searches.
MINISTER GURLEK: THERE WAS AN ATTEMPT TO FLEE
Responding to journalists' questions after the Cabinet meeting, Minister of Justice Akin Gurlek stated that Association President Haluk Levent was detained on Sunday after an attempt to flee, despite a previous travel ban abroad being imposed on him.
