It has been learned that the fire, which resulted in the loss of 78 of our citizens' lives, was discussed at the AK Party's Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK), and that its officials proposed to President Erdoğan to transfer the inspection mechanism of hotels from the public sector to the private sector in order to enhance the quality of inspections.
In the recent MKYK meeting of the AK Party, the main agenda was the fire disaster in Bolu Kartalkaya, which claimed the lives of 78 of our citizens.
MINISTERS PRESENTED
During the meeting, the Ministers of Justice, Culture and Tourism, and Labor and Social Security made comprehensive presentations, while Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç explained the legal status of the hotel and its licensing/renovation processes from the 1970s to the present in chronological order.
Tourism Minister Ersoy discussed the responsibilities and duties of the ministry in the fire department report and inspection processes, while Labor Minister Işıkhan conveyed the legal aspects related to occupational safety.
ERDOĞAN: WE WILL DO WHAT IS NECESSARY EVEN IF THEY ARE OUR FRIENDS
According to a report by Emrah Özcan from Türkiye Gazetesi, President Erdoğan, after listening to the presentations, instructed to increase inspections, stating, "We are not politicizing the issue. Regardless of who it is, those responsible will be held accountable. Even if those responsible are our friends, we will do what is necessary. Everyone will face the consequences of their actions."
STRIKING PROPOSAL FROM MKYK MEMBERS
On the other hand, during the meeting, some MKYK members proposed transferring the inspection mechanism of hotels from the public sector to the private sector to enhance its quality. Some MKYK members also noted that this task could be delegated to certified building inspection firms, stating that these firms take on many responsibilities during the building construction process and impose heavy penalties on those who act contrary to regulations.
