Uğur Zan, who killed his wife Zeynep Zan with a gun while in the process of divorce in Çanakkale, had text messages with his brother G.M. that emerged four days before the murder. In the messages, G.M. warned Uğur Zan by saying, "If you do something like this, my mother will be very upset, my father will be devastated."

HE MURDERED HIS WIFE WITH A SINGLE SHOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET
The incident occurred on May 16 at around 10:30 AM on İzmir Street in İsmetpaşa Neighborhood. Uğur Zan cut off the front of the motorcycle used by his wife, Zeynep Zan, a mother of two, with license plate 17 EE 166, while driving his car with license plate 34 GGZ 686. A dispute broke out between the couple here. During the argument, Uğur Zan fired a single shot at his wife with the gun he had brought with him. Zeynep Zan, shot in the head, collapsed to the ground in a pool of blood. Upon the notification of the surrounding people, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. In the examination conducted by the medical teams, it was determined that Zeynep Zan had lost her life.

While Zeynep Zan was being buried, Uğur Zan, who fled in his car, was caught by the police teams and arrested by the court he was brought to after his procedures.
A LAWSUIT WAS FILED WITH A REQUEST FOR LIFE IMPRISONMENT
After the investigation conducted by the Çanakkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a lawsuit was filed against Uğur Zan for 'intentional murder of a spouse' with a request for aggravated life imprisonment.

While the trial is ongoing at the Çanakkale 4th High Criminal Court, the messages exchanged between Uğur Zan and his brother G.M. four days before the murder were included in the file. In the messages, G.M. warned his brother Zan by saying, "Get divorced. I say it again. If you do something like this, my mother will be very sad, my father will be devastated. The children will be the same. Think about how much punishment there is for violence against women."
