According to ASAL's survey conducted from January 27 to 29, 2026, in response to the question "Who should govern Turkey?", Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ranked first with 23.2%, followed by Mansur Yavaş (14.0%) and Ekrem İmamoğlu (11.3%). The fact that the proportion of those who answered "None" ranked second at 19.9% indicates that a significant portion of the electorate is dissatisfied with the current candidates.
ASAL Research and Consultancy announced the results of its public opinion survey conducted in 26 provinces between January 27-29, 2026. In the survey conducted with 2,200 people, participants were asked an open-ended question: "Who would you like to govern Turkey?"
ERDOĞAN IS IN FIRST PLACE
According to the survey results, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ranked first with 23.2%. Following Erdoğan, Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş received 14.0%, while Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu received 11.3% support.
ÖZEL RANKED BEHIND DEMİRTAŞ
Continuing the list, Selahattin Demirtaş received 6.0%, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel received 5.9%, and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli was preferred by 3.7%. İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu received 3.3%, Victory Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ received 2.4%, Key Party leader Yavuz Ağıralioğlu received 2.0%, and New Welfare Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan received 1.8% of the votes.
THE RATE OF THOSE SAYING "NONE" APPROACHED 20%
The rate of those who answered "Other" in the survey was 3.5%, while another striking result was that the rate of those saying "None" reached 19.9%. The rate of those saying "I have no opinion / No answer" was recorded as 3.0%. The research also revealed that a significant portion of voters across Turkey is in search of a different leader outside the current names.
