FORMER STUDENT PERFORMED THE SURGERY
Retired teacher Halide Akben, who applied to Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University Medical Faculty Hospital due to severe abdominal pain, was found to have a blockage in her aorta during examinations. After evaluation by the medical team, a decision was made to perform surgery using a closed method on Akben.
Before the operation, Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kirişçi entered the room to inform his patient and encountered a big surprise years later. Kirişçi became emotional when he realized the patient was Halide Akben, his high school teacher from 29 years ago.
Halide Akben, who regained her health after the successful closed-method operation, stated that she was very happy to have been operated on by her former student.
"I FELT IN SAFE HANDS"
Akben, expressing that she felt extremely safe during the surgery process, said, "I felt in safe hands. I had no concerns. I was quite comfortable. The only wealth of teachers is to see the students we have raised here. It is our source of pride."
It was learned that after the successful operation performed by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kirişçi, who stated that bringing healing to his teacher years later was a great honor for him, Halide Akben's health condition is good.
