STATEMENT ON ADDITIONAL SALARY INCREASE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS FROM THE PRESIDENT OF MEMUR-SEN

Memur-Sen President Ali Yalçın held a press conference. Yalçın reminded that the 2025 Budget will be completed this week, stating that if provisions that will meet the expectations of public officials and retirees are included in the budget law, it will be a primary regulation that can ensure justice in income distribution.

Listing the demands of Memur-Sen in this context, Yalçın stated, "The inflation expectation of 17.5% for 2025 in the OVP is unrealistic, and based on the fact that wages will increase by 13% while expenses will increase by the revaluation rate of 43.93%; our 22-point losses that we just mentioned must be compensated, and our collective bargaining proposal for an additional salary increase of 15% for civil servants should be implemented in January. The understanding that 'wage increases increase inflation' should be abandoned, and the cost of inflation, for which they are not responsible, should not be placed on the shoulders of those with fixed incomes," he expressed.

CIVIL SERVANT SALARY INCREASE RATE WITH 5-MONTH INFLATION DIFFERENCE

For the first time, an inflation difference has occurred for civil servants and retired civil servants. The inflation rate for the 5-month period from July to now has exceeded 10%. The increase rate for civil servants and retired civil servants for the 5-month period is 10.40.

JANUARY 2025 CIVIL SERVANT SALARY INCREASE ESTIMATE

With the clarification of the inflation data for December, the final picture regarding the salary increase for civil servants and retirees will be revealed. The inflation data for the entire year of 2024 will be announced on January 3. Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey President Fatih Karahan raised the CBRT's expectation to 44% in the last inflation report of the year. Civil servants and retired civil servants will receive a 6% collective bargaining increase in January 2025. If the CBRT's expectations are realized, the inflation difference that civil servants and retired civil servants will receive will be 4.95%.

If the inflation rate is 44% at the end of the year, the total inflation difference and collective bargaining increase to be given to civil servants and retired civil servants in the new year is estimated to be around 11.25%.
