A Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV)-driven increase was applied to gasoline and diesel as of midnight. The per-liter price of gasoline increased by 4 liras 15 kuruş, and the per-liter price of diesel increased by 3 liras 60 kuruş. After the increase, gasoline rose to 80 liras 55 kuruş and diesel to 100 liras 50 kuruş in Istanbul. Diesel prices also exceeded 100 liras in Ankara and Izmir.
A new increase in fuel prices took effect as of midnight. Under the regulation stemming from the Special Consumption Tax (SCT), the price per liter of gasoline was increased by 4 lira 15 kuruş.
After the increase, the price per liter of gasoline rose to 80 lira 55 kuruş in Istanbul. The price per liter of gasoline, which rose to 81 lira 55 kuruş in Ankara, reached 81 lira 75 kuruş in Izmir.
DIESEL PRICE PER LITER EXCEEDED 100 LIRA
Diesel prices also increased by 3 lira 60 kuruş as of midnight. The price per liter of diesel, previously sold at 96 lira 90 kuruş in Istanbul, rose to 100 lira 50 kuruş with the increase.
Thus, the price per liter of diesel in Istanbul exceeded the 100-lira threshold.
The price per liter of diesel rose to 101 lira 60 kuruş in Ankara and to 101 lira 80 kuruş in Izmir.
HERE ARE THE CURRENT FUEL PRICES AFTER THE INCREASE
After the midnight increases, the per-liter prices of gasoline and diesel in the three major cities were as follows:
Istanbul
- Gasoline: 80 lira 55 kuruş
- Diesel: 100 lira 50 kuruş
Ankara
- Gasoline: 81 lira 55 kuruş
- Diesel: 101 lira 60 kuruş
Izmir
- Gasoline: 81 lira 75 kuruş
- Diesel: 101 lira 80 kuruş
INCREASES REFLECTED AT THE PUMP
The SCT-related increases to gasoline and diesel were reflected in pump prices as of midnight. In particular, diesel's per-liter price rising above 100 lira increased vehicle owners' fuel costs.
With the new prices, the cost of filling a 50-liter tank reached 4,027 lira 50 kuruş in Istanbul for gasoline vehicles and 5,025 lira for diesel vehicles.
