Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar made historical and cultural visits yesterday in Istanbul and today in Izmit ahead of the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government. Yesterday, Magyar toured the historic peninsula in Istanbul and visited the Sultanahmet Mosque, Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, and Yedikule Fortress. Today, he went to Izmit. The Hungarian leader visited the memorial house opened in the name of Imre Thököly, an important figure in his country's history, and laid a wreath at the monument.

VISITED ICONIC SITES OF ISTANBUL

Magyar began his official program in Istanbul yesterday. Exploring the historical peninsula, Magyar shared posts on his social media account featuring Sultanahmet Mosque and Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque with his followers. Then, moving on to Yedikule Fortress, the Hungarian leader shared photos he took at historical sites on his social media account, providing glimpses from his visit to Türkiye.

Magyar was accompanied by Fatih Mayor Ergün Turan during his Istanbul program. In a post on his social media account, Turan stated that he was pleased to host Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar and Hungary's Consul General in Istanbul, Laszlo Keller, at Yedikule Fortress. Turan said, "We had the opportunity to tour our fortress, which holds an important place in Istanbul's memory, and share our ongoing works. I thank the Prime Minister and the Consul General for their valuable visit."

VISITED IZMIT TODAY

Today, Magyar visited the Tökeli İmre Memorial House, opened in the Izmit district of Kocaeli in the name of Tökeli İmre, one of the important figures of Hungarian history and a hero of the Hungarian national struggle, and laid a wreath at the monument. In his post about the visit, Magyar stated, "Visiting the memorial house of Tökeli İmre, the holy warrior leader and Prince of Transylvania, and laying a memorial wreath in Izmit was a purifying experience. The goal is the NATO Summit in Ankara. Homeland above all."
