The IMM Assembly increased the monthly fee in higher education student dormitories by 35 percent, from 2,850 lira to 3,840 lira. The increase will take effect on September 1, 2026.
In the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Assembly, it was decided to increase the monthly fee for higher education student dormitories from 2,850 lira to 3,840 lira, a rise of approximately 35 percent.
IBB DORMITORY FEES INCREASED
The third session of the IBB Assembly for June was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Assembly Speaker Gencay Özcan at the municipal building in Saraçhane. The Assembly discussed the 2026 revised fee tariff proposed by the IBB Financial Services Department Revenue Branch Directorate.
The proposal sought to raise the monthly fee for higher education student dormitories from 2,850 lira to 3,840 lira, a 35 percent increase.
During the vote in the Assembly, the proposal to increase IBB student dormitory fees was accepted with votes from CHP members, against the AK Party's "no" votes.
EFFECTIVE FROM SEPTEMBER 1
The increase will take effect as of September 1, 2026. The last increase to IBB's student dormitories was 46.15 percent on June 19, 2025.
