The leak of WhatsApp correspondence between CHP Mayor İlkay Çiçek, detained in the bribery and extortion operation against Izmir Menderes Municipality, and his girlfriend, has dominated Turkey's agenda. Çiçek first defended the messages, allegedly containing plans to flee abroad with bribery money and highly inappropriate content, by saying they were "perfectly humane," but later rejected the allegations with an "artificial intelligence" defense.

New evidence and findings showing that the correspondence in question was not a product of artificial intelligence were added to the investigation file.
The background of the environment in the photos allegedly sent by Çiçek to his girlfriend matched the room interior background of the hotel in question, along with the accommodation records related to the message dates.
STRIKING ASSESSMENT IN THE FILE
In the assessment included in the file, the following statements were made: "As a result of the research conducted regarding the background of the photo in the WhatsApp correspondence, it is considered that the background of the photo is the same as the hotel room of the establishment named Latanya Hotel, located at Kavaklıdere Mahallesi Büklüm Caddesi Akay Turizm Yatırımları A.Ş. Blok No: 1 Çankaya/Ankara, and it overlaps with the room design of the hotel at the address Kavaklıdere Mahallesi Büklüm Caddesi Akay Turizm Yatırımları A.Ş. Blok No: 1 Çankaya/Ankara."
