Diyanet-Sen made a statement opposing the salary promotion tender in front of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. The General President, Ali Yıldız, stated that the tender is not compatible with economic conditions, saying, "Do not insist on the wrong; we do not accept any proposal that victimizes the employees of the Religious Affairs."

Diyanet-Sen members made a statement regarding the salary promotion tender process in front of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. The religious workers opened a banner saying, "Do not insist on mistakes in the salary agreement tender. Let there be no new grievances," and carried placards stating, "We do not want a gift amount as charity," "Participation banks are winning, DIB employees are losing," "We are not obliged to inadequate service," "Salary offers should be obtained from all banks," "We do not accept any offer that victimizes religious workers," "We do not want to travel 400 km to withdraw my salary," "Competition conditions should be ensured in the salary agreement."

"SERIOUS GRIEVANCES ARE BEING EXPERIENCED"

General President Ali Yıldız emphasized that the Presidency of Religious Affairs has made an agreement with participation finance banks for the salaries of its personnel, and as a result of this agreement, personnel are experiencing grievances and difficulties due to service inadequacy. He stated: "As is known, the Presidency of Religious Affairs has made agreements with participation banks for personnel salaries through salary agreement tenders that cover both central and provincial organizations. Due to the agreements made in this regard so far, the personnel of the Presidency are experiencing very serious grievances in salary and banking matters.

"WE WERE FORCED TO MAKE THIS STATEMENT"

We have gathered to warn the Presidency so that the same problems do not occur in the new tender to be held in March 2025 and that mistakes are not insisted upon. If our demands had been taken into account and the mistake had been corrected, we would have gathered here to thank the Presidency. But that did not happen, and we were forced to make this statement. The Presidency of Religious Affairs has previously signed salary agreements with different participation finance banks, and as a result of these agreements, which were not made in accordance with a competitive environment, the personnel of the Presidency have experienced and continue to experience various difficulties.

Imams took to the streets for 'bank promotion'

As the authorized union, we have brought the issues, complaints, and demands coming from the field to the Administrative Board in 2023 and 2024 to correct this distorted situation. In the Administrative Board meeting held in April 2024, we decided to work on updating the gift given to personnel within the framework of the salary agreement covering the central and provincial organizations of the Presidency. Additionally, upon our application, the Public Ombudsman Institution also determined in its decision dated May 24, 2024, that personnel were victimized due to the inadequate and deficient services of participation banks and issued a recommendation to remedy the grievances experienced.

"THEY INSIST ON THE MISTAKE"

Despite our repeated communications of these difficulties to the Presidency and financial institutions, no solution has been produced for years, and insistence on the mistake continues. To rectify this mistake, the Presidency of Religious Affairs must act in accordance with both the KIK decision dated April 2024 and the decision given by the Chief Public Ombudsman, and the bank agreement should be made accordingly. The tender specifications should include the conditions that the banks submitting bids must have sufficient personnel and ATM numbers and infrastructure, and a competitive environment should be created in the tender.
