In Antalya, a foreign national crushed a cat fed by local tradesmen with his foot and then kicked a dog. After the footage captured on security cameras spread on social media, the individual was taken into custody and, following his statements to the police and the prosecutor's office, was handed over to the Repatriation Center for deportation.
On May 10, an incident occurred at 144th Street, Sarısu Neighborhood, Konyaaltı district of Antalya, where a Russian national named Andria I. arrived in front of a chain market branch on the street.
FIRST STEPPED ON THE CAT, THEN KICKED THE DOG
In the images reflected on the security camera of the workplace, the individual stepped on a cat lying on the stairs with his foot. After the cat fled in panic, Andria I., coming down the stairs, then kicked a stray dog located at the bottom of the stairs.
WILL BE DEPORTED
Both stray animals quickly left the area after Andria I.'s blows. After the images captured on the security camera were shared on social media accounts, animal lovers reacted to the unidentified individual. Some citizens, reacting to the abuse of the cat and dog lying in front of the market minding their own business, went to the police station with the images and filed a complaint about the individual. It was reported that Andria I., who was captured and taken into custody following the application, was handed over to the Repatriation Center to be deported after his police and prosecutor statements.
"I WAS VERY SAD WHEN I SAW THE IMAGES"
Esen Peksoy, one of the citizens who described the individual's abuse of the animals as heinous, said, "We know the individual, but we are not close. He comes, does his shopping, and leaves. He has been staying in Turkey for over a year. He came here fleeing the war. But coming here and tormenting these animals is very sad. In the image, he steps on the animal's head, then kicks it. After that, he kicks a dog below. The animals flee in panic. When I saw it on the camera, I was very sad. Someone who harms animals can also harm people. Of course, I want such people to face punishment."
"WE HAVEN'T SEEN THE CAT SINCE THE INCIDENT"
Peksoy, stating that they haven't seen the cat, which was stepped on by the individual, for several days after the incident, said, "I don't know the cat's condition right now. The other day, its leg was limping, we bought food and gave it. After that, it disappeared and left. Since we work, we couldn't follow it. It's highly likely the animal may have died from the severe blow. I saw the incident on camera. I was very sad, such tormenting that animal, crushing its head, hitting it, crippling its leg. We are against all kinds of violence, not just toward a single cat but also toward the dog. But these are God's silent creatures, it's not right. Damaging my property, life, and animals in my country while coming from another country is not an ethical situation."
