In the Yakutiye district of Erzurum, 17-year-old Y.A.Y. stabbed his grandmother M.C. following an argument for an unknown reason and then took her hostage. After resisting police and medical teams for about 45 minutes, the young man was persuaded to surrender through the efforts of his aunt, who arrived at the scene. While M.C. was treated on-site by medical personnel, Y.A.Y. was taken into custody and handed over to the Juvenile Branch Directorate.

ARGUED WITH GRANDMOTHER

The incident occurred around 21:30 in the Muratpaşa neighborhood of Yakutiye district. According to the claim, Y.A.Y. argued with his grandmother M.C., with whom he was staying, over an undetermined reason. During the tension, M.C. was stabbed in the arm by her grandson and went to the balcony shouting for help. Neighbors who saw the woman reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, police, health, and fire department teams were dispatched to the address. Despite the teams entering the apartment building and ringing the doorbell and calling out for a long time, Y.A.Y. did not open the door.

AUNT PERSUADED HIM

M.C.'s daughter, who learned of the incident, came to the house and asked her nephew to open the door. As a result of approximately 45 minutes of persuasion efforts by the aunt and police teams, Y.A.Y. opened the door and surrendered. M.C., who was stabbed and taken hostage by her grandson and observed to have experienced great fear, was treated on site by health workers waiting at the scene. Y.A.Y., taken into custody by the police with the murder weapon knife, was handed over to the Juvenile Branch Directorate after a health report was obtained.
