In the Tuşba district of Van, 1 ton of dead and 200 kilograms of live pearl mullet, poached during the breeding season, were seized. The live fish were released into the water, while the dead ones were destroyed; inspections also uncovered 600 meters of banned nets.

In the Tuşba district of Van, one ton of dead and 200 kilograms of live pearl mullet caught by poaching were seized. Inspections continue uninterrupted to protect the pearl mullet, an endemic species of Lake Van, which migrates from Lake Van to fresh waters to reproduce between April 15 and July 15, and is prohibited from fishing during this period. Within this scope, inspections are carried out by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry Fisheries and Aquaculture Branch Directorate, gendarmerie, police, Coast Guard, and municipal police teams.

LIVE FISH WERE RELEASED BACK INTO THE WATER

During nighttime inspections conducted by Tuşba Municipal Police teams and the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry Aquaculture teams at the Kale location, one thousand tons of dead fish and 200 kilograms of live fish poached in the stream in the reed area where fresh waters merge with Lake Van were seized. While the live fish were released back into the water, the dead fish were destroyed by the teams. Additionally, 400 meters of gillnet and 200 meters of purse seine net were seized during the inspections.
