In the Gülistan Doku investigation, attention has turned to camera records. The vehicle used by Mustafa Türkay Sonel, the son of former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel and the main suspect in the case, was detected by the License Plate Recognition System passing through the area where Gülistan was last seen on the day of her disappearance. While inspectors seek answers to why camera records from the City Security Management System in that area are not included in the file, it is noted that the investigation could extend to former Police Chief Yılmaz Delen.

The interior minister, Mustafa Çiftçi, assigned civil and police inspectors to investigate all aspects of the incident. They are conducting a meticulous study to find answers to two important questions regarding the murder of Gülistan Doku, for which the son of former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel is a suspect. Based on the findings the inspectors will reveal, it is stated that the investigation may extend to Yılmaz Delen, the former Police Chief who was the Police Chief at the time and is currently the Yalova Police Chief.

SONEL'S VEHICLE IN THE AREA WHERE GÜLİSTAN DISAPPEARED

It was reported that the reopening of the Gülistan Doku case was influenced by a meeting in 2023 between sister Aygül Doku and the newly appointed Tunceli Police Chief Hakan Duman.

It was stated that Duman formed a special team to re-examine the case and identify deficiencies, and as a result of this team's work, information was obtained that a white vehicle, whose license plate and brand were visible, passed through the area several times on the night of January 5, when Gülistan Doku disappeared, according to License Plate Recognition System (PTS) records. This vehicle was identified as the one used by Governor Tuncay Sonel's son.

CAMERA RECORDS NOT IN THE FILE

Additionally, it was determined that records from the City Security Management System (KGYS) that could view the incident area were not included in the case file. It was also found that cameras installed by the Special Operations Department to monitor movements from rural areas towards the city as part of counter-terrorism efforts covered the incident area, but these camera records were also not in the file.

According to obtained information, while the prosecutor's office was expected to take action based on additional evidence gathered in 2024, Provincial Police Chief Hakan Duman left the province due to his reassignment. The fact that the new information obtained was not added to the file came to light after Chief Prosecutor Ebru Cansu took office and the case was brought up again. Upon hearing that the case had been reopened, it was reported that statements were made to the prosecutor's office such as, 'If you can't find the body, you'll be buried under this case,' but the prosecutor's office expressed its determination to pursue the matter by saying, 'Even if the body isn't found, the case can proceed if evidence is solidly collected. If evidence was tampered with, those responsible will also be punished for evidence tampering.'

INVESTIGATION MAY EXTEND TO THE FORMER PROVINCIAL POLICE CHIEF

It was reported that Prosecutor Ebru Cansu contacted former Police Chief Hakan Duman, who had obtained additional evidence, and through their joint work, new information and documents were obtained.

Two police inspectors assigned by Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi are conducting a detailed examination of whether the evidence collected during the investigation into the incident was fully placed in the case file. Particular emphasis is being placed on records not included in the file and certain deleted footage. The inspectors are seeking answers to the question, 'Why were the camera records not included?'
