Serbia's Prime Minister Milos Vucevic resigned due to protests following a train station disaster that claimed the lives of 15 people. The number of resignations has risen to four, including Transport Minister Goran Vesic, Trade Minister Tomislav Momirovic, and Railway Director Jelena Tanaskovic.

On November 1, 2024, 15 people lost their lives due to the collapse of a concrete canopy at the train station in Novi Sad, and it was reported that the lives of 2 seriously injured individuals were still in danger.

11 PEOPLE WERE DETAINED

After the incident, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic and Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Tomislav Momirovic had resigned. Following the prosecutor's investigation, 11 people, including Minister Vesic, were detained.

"STOP SERBIA" SLOGANS WERE CHANTED

While suspicions of negligence were raised regarding the repair works carried out at the train station in 2021, it was stated that the police had questioned many individuals related to the incident. After the accident, students protesting against the government organized protests across the country with the slogan "Stop Serbia" and boycotted classes and schools.

Stating that 90 days have passed since the train accident in Novi Sad, Vucic said, "Those responsible will be punished. We did everything we could after the tragedy, and we have always been with the families of the deceased. Most of the demands made by the students have been met, and the necessary documents regarding the accident have been shared with the public. They wanted the release of those detained. I am ready to sign a pardon decision for 13 students and 1 academician," he stated.
