In Thailand, a pet dog brought an active hand grenade it found outside back home in its mouth. Family members mistook the object for a bone for a long time, but when the homeowner noticed the safety pin, they reported the situation to authorities. Bomb disposal teams arriving at the scene determined the grenade was of Chinese origin, removed it from the residential area, and safely detonated it in a controlled manner.

An incident in the northeastern Thai province of Sisaket caused great panic. A family's pet dog found a hand grenade outside and carried it home in its mouth.

Homeowner Rungnapa Duangta said that when she returned home around noon, she saw a rusted round object at the entrance. When she picked it up, she noticed the safety pin and realized it was a hand grenade, immediately reporting the situation to the authorities.

DOG CHEWED IT FOR A LONG TIME

Duangta said, according to her grandmother who was at home during the day, the dog had brought the hand grenade from outside in the morning and chewed on it for a long time. It was learned that family members thought the object was a bone or a piece of plastic. Upon the report, police and bomb disposal teams were dispatched to the scene.

DETERMINED TO STILL BE ACTIVE

An examination by experts revealed that the munition was a Chinese-made "Type 82-2" fragmentation hand grenade, and although old, it was still in an active state.

Bomb disposal teams took the grenade to a location far from the residential area and destroyed it in a controlled manner. The explosion created a crater approximately 30 centimeters deep and 60 centimeters wide in the area.

"AN IMPORTANT WARNING"

Police Chief Chaiwat Thammawat stated in a statement after the incident that the area had been used as a military training ground in the past.

Warning citizens, Thammawat emphasized that if suspicious explosives, munitions, or military materials are encountered, they should absolutely not be touched, and the situation should be immediately reported to the authorities.
